The Dunbar Fire Department is an active participant in the life safe program. This program offers training to businesses that we believe provides the knowledge needed to properly and safely deal with planning for emergencies. We enjoy the working relationships we have with the local business owners and their employees. We highly recommend that you get involved in this program and please contact us if you need more information.
Life Safe is a cooperative effort between building owners and managers, and the fire departments and mayors of the cities of Charleston, Dunbar, Nitro, Saint Albans, and South Charleston. The purpose of Life Safe is to ensure that building owners/managers endorse and train their tenants/ employees in proper fire prevention; and, prepare them to safely evacuate themselves and others from their facility, or to shelter-in-place, in an emergency. There are no fees to participate. The mission of Life Safe is to improve the safety of our citizens, and to prevent the loss of life and property.
The Dunbar Fire Department will deliver the training and assistance to owners/occupants to fulfill the mission of the life safe program. When you enroll in the program, our representative will contact you to describe the next steps. The fire department considers the safety of all citizens/owners/and workers within our response area a high priority.
